Families tell the stories in many different ways, but throughout history we have often seen symbols used in things like a family crest.
Invite participants to design their own “family crest”. Print off shield templates and talk about what you would include in the crest for the family of God, or for your faith community.

This activity can also be done with tartans, flags and many other cultural symbols for clans and families. Invite families to bring in something that symbolizes their family as a way of exploring this idea together.
This activity could also be adapted for the kingdom/kin-dom of God for Reign of Christ the King Sunday!
