Orange Shirt Pins

A very common practice for Orange Shirt Day (Sept. 30th) and other events around the “Every Child Matters” slogan is to wear an organe tshirt.

Another option is create your own Orange Shirt Pin! Using orange felt you can trace a small t-shirt design and cut it out with fabric scissors. Older children can do this themselves but younger children will need help.

Considerate having a group activity as a church or family where you create your ownn pins and decorate them.

Pair this activity with…

  • A reading of Phyllis’ Orange Shirt, available at most local libraries
  • Watch a short video where Phyllis explains the story of her orange shirt and the start of Orange Shirt Day
  • Check-out the Orange Shirt Society’s teacher resources for appropriate content
